Life’s Meaning

For centuries people have been asking the question, “What’s the meaning of life?” We believe the answer has been available for more than 2000 years. Jesus Christ said, “I am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me,” (John 14:6). We have found this statement to be emphatically true.

Life’s Meaning

What’s it all about? Surely life is more that sleep, eat, work. Indeed, there may betimes when we do splash out and enjoy a good time or two, but all said and done, there must be a deeper meaning to life. Author, Frank Peretti said, “God has created us in his image and put each of us here on earth for specific purposes. That means every human being has intrinsic value, preciousness, meaning and dignity.”

Where Did It Go Wrong

Your life does have meaning. Your life does have value. God loves you and desires for you to experience and walk in his deep meaning for life. However, the Bible makes it plain that each of us has come short of God’s perfect purpose, because of this thing called, sin. From the beginning of human history, sin has separated us from God’s perfect goodness. Listen…

Romans 3:12
All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”

And…

Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

Whether we’re aware of actually committing sin or think that we haven’t, we’re all guilty of sin, because we were born into sin. Sin is universal.

Great News!

But there’s good news! Reading on in Romans 3 from verse 23 we read, “all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.”

God has a great meaning – a purpose – for your life. That meaning comes through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only one who was ever born outside of sin (because he is God in the flesh). Therefore, God the Father placed sin on the shoulders of Jesus when he was crucified. The result of sin is death (Romans 6:23) and Jesus died for sin. But because he was not guilty of sin, Jesus rose from the dead. If we believe in our hearts that he died and rose again and confess him to be Lord and God then we can be freed from sin and saved from a worthless life (read Roams 10:8-13).

Jesus Christ is the meaning of life. Faith in Jesus Christ opens us to the plans and purposes of God.

What to do…

Admit Your Sin

In order to discover God’s purposes you need to first admit to your sin. When you confess your sin to God and believe that Jesus died and rose again, you take the first step of faith to new life; you become born spiritually or “born again” (John 3:3). The Bible says that whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in your heart that God raised him from the dead causes you to experience God’s grace and find forgiveness of Sin.

Do it NOW!

If you want to find the real meaning of life and discover the purposes of God for your life, pray a prayer like this…

Dear God, I realise that I need to be forgiven for my sin. I am sorry and admit that I have lived wrong before you. Today I accept Jesus as my Lord and God and believe that he died and rose again for me. I ask you to come into my life and, in turn, I choose to give my life to you. I believe that you have forgiven me and made me right before you through Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.

If you prayed that prayer we would love to hear from you.
